Urban Connection
Urban Connections are vital to the life of our church. They form our network of pastoral care and create opportunity for service where every member is valued and appreciated. Our pastoral team’s primary responsibility is to equip leaders (Eph 4:11-12) and to assist in multiplying of Urban Connections. There are three areas which form the DNA of our Urban Connections:
Deep Community
Deep community develops when trust, accountability and transparency form the foundations of relationship. Most relationships in society occur at a shallow level. Australians always ask ‘how are you going?’ to which the response is ‘good’, our next question is ‘what have you been up to?’ to which we respond ‘not much’. Our goal is to create a safe environment where regardless of what people are going through they still feel comfortable in sharing their heart. A place where no-one feels judged, but instead they are supported and comforted. Urban Connections are full of fun and laughter, where people can enjoy each others company. Ultimately our desire is that you feel valued and strengthened in each season of life.
Discipleship
Discipleship is facilitated within Urban Connections encouraging every member on a pathway of growth in their relationship with Christ. Growth in both their spiritual and natural life, presenting each one whole in Christ. This is achieved through impartation, application of the word of God, prayer and fellowship.
Sharing Faith
Sharing our faith is the launch pad of fulfilling the great commission. It calls us not to just be a disciple, but to make disciples. In Matthew 5, Jesus says that we are the salt of the earth and the light to the world. Urban Connections help people to be accountable to pray for and share their faith with family, friends and unchurched. This is achieved through prayer cards and social events which build a bridge into the church for new people.
